Editor's Notes

All entries that have been updated to the 2012 timetable are marked with a bullet point after the service section.

As 'Steam Railway Lines' is one of my hobbies, I make no money out of it, my reward comes from seeing that a reasonable number of visitors have viewed the site every day. Another benefit is to get the occasional email feedback.

Although I have never received many emails it dawned on me that it was a long while since one had been received via the contact form. A quick check showed that it wasn't working, it seems the code had been corrupted.

I don't know how long it hasn't worked so apologies to anyone who has tried to use the contact form and got the 'sorry there is a problem' message. It's now being tested regularly and to prove it's now fine I got a complimentary message from Mario P.

Only railways that run steam trains on a regular basis are included in the main listings. All lines have a minimum of one mile of track and one station.

Not all trains will be hauled by steam locomotives, many railways use diesel power in off peak periods. Please check with the company concerned if you must travel by steam train.

If you decide to visit one of the railways go to their web site for the latest information. Note that  telephone lines will probably only be answered when trains are running.

We have tried to indicate the days a railway is operating a service but some have a variable timetable so you must check with the organisation to confirm trains are running on a certain day.

Special event days will probably be a different price to the one shown.

We cannot be responsible for any inaccuracies, please email us if you find anything that is incorrect
